Termites

Here are some tips for controlling termites in your home:

Identify the type of termite – Different species of termites require different control methods. The most common species in the US are the American termite, the Drywood termite, and the Subterranean termite.

Eliminate food and water sources – Termites need food and water to survive, so keeping your home clean and dry is essential for preventing infestations. Store wood and paper products away from your home’s foundation, fix any leaks or standing water, and remove any dead trees or stumps from your yard.

Use baits and traps – Commercial baits and traps can be effective in reducing termite populations. Place them in areas where termites are likely to hide or travel, such as near the foundation, in crawl spaces, and in attics.

Apply insecticides – Insecticides can be used as a last resort for severe infestations. However, they should be used with caution and according to the label instructions. Avoid spraying near food, children, and pets.

Seal entry points – Termites can enter your home through small cracks and gaps in walls, floors, and doors. Seal these entry points with caulk or weatherstripping to prevent termites from getting in.
