Spider and Scorpion Control

Here are some tips for controlling spiders and scorpions in your home:

Identify the type of spider or scorpion – Different species of spiders and scorpions require different control methods. The most common species in the US are the Black Widow spider, the Brown Recluse spider, and the Bark Scorpion.

Eliminate food and water sources – Spiders and scorpions need food and water to survive, so keeping your home clean and dry is essential for preventing infestations. Store food in airtight containers, clean up spills and crumbs immediately, and fix any leaks or standing water.

Use sticky traps – Commercial sticky traps can be effective in reducing spider and scorpion populations. Place them in areas where spiders and scorpions are likely to hide or travel, such as near windows, doors, and baseboards.

Apply insecticides – Insecticides can be used as a last resort for severe infestations. However, they should be used with caution and according to the label instructions. Avoid spraying near food, children, and pets.

Seal entry points – Spiders and scorpions can enter your home through small cracks and gaps in walls, floors, and doors. Seal these entry points with caulk or weatherstripping to prevent spiders and scorpions from getting in.
